What $40 Gets You In Chiang Mai, Thailand (Daily)
Chiang Mai, Thailand is absolutely one of my favorite places in the world. There are many reasons I love this place from the super friendly people, the delicious food, and one of the most important ones that keeps me coming back is the low cost of living.
I made a full video of a (normal) day in the life here in Chiang Mai going over everything from what I eat and how I get around to where I work and workout.
Check out the video here. . . .
You can get 1 bedrooms or hotel rooms anywhere from $8 - $30.
Renting a motor bike is definitely the most convenient way to get around the city.
If you have never drove before I would definitely take the time to not only get used to riding but also the way people drive in Chiang Mai. You will see a lot of people pull out in front of you, cut you off, change lanes without looking and there is no such thing as a right away.
Grab is the app you want to download for an Uber like experience since they don't have Uber out here.

AIS is the local phone company I use out here to get internet that gives you access to the Wifi hotspots that you can get all around the city in places like Starbucks and the major malls.
Prices So these are the prices of the things that I do and get out here in Chiang Mai. Some of the prices like housing and internet I took my monthly rate and divided by 30. I've been coming to Thailand since 2013.I knew some people pay more and less for these certain things but these are the prices that I see :)
